FORGING METHOD FOR LONG-SIZED FORGING PRODUCT

PURPOSE:To reduce the number of passes and preparatory forming machines, to improve the productivity and to reduce the cost by crush working a long-sized work formed preparatorily by forging rolls, then by forging in closed extension to form a sloped flash and finish forging. CONSTITUTION:A required part of bar billet 3 is formed by the forging rolls 1 and turned by 90 deg. to make bar-like partially formed product 4 elongated L1. The product 4 is crush worked 5 at a central part by the forging machine 2. Next, prescribed width (t) generated by the oblique flash 11 and elongating forging work 6 to a height (H) are performed by a fitting upper die 8 and a lower die 9 to make elongation L2. This preparatory formed work 6 is finish forming forged to make a finish formed product 7 having a flash 11 on whole surface. Compared with crushing, finish formed forging by the conventional forging machine, the number of preparatory forming passes are reduced to decrease the number of preparatory forming machines to reduce the cost of equipment and total number of passes are reduced to improve the productivity.
