Pyrazoles of formula (I) are new. In (I), R1 = CN, NO2, halo, formyl, alkycarbonyl or cycloalkylcarbonyl; R2 = halo, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, NO2, thiocyanate, (or optd. mono- or di-alkyl substd.) sulphamoyl, or aminocarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl or opt. substd. R9S(O)n; n = 0 to 2; R9 = alkyl, haloalkyl, cycloalkyl, halocycloalkyl, cyclo-alkyl- alkyl or halocycloalkyl alkyl; R3 = H, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio or di alkylamino; R4 = phenyl or 5-6 membered O,S and/or N, heteroaryl both opt. substd with -OH or a salt, -SH or a salt, halo, CN, NO2, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, -O- alkyl-O-, -O-halo alkyl-O-, haloalkoxy, alkanoyloxy, phenolic, tri-alkylsiloxy, phenyl, alkyl-S(O)n, halo alkyl-S(O)n, NR10R11, COR12, SO2R13; R10,R11 = H, alkyl, alkanoyl or haloalkanoyl; R12 = NR10R11 alkoxy, alkylthio, OH or a salt, H, alkyl or halo alkyl; R13 = NR10R11, alkoxy, alkylthio or OH or a sa R5 = halo or alkyl; R6, R8 = H or F; R7 = H, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, CN, NO2, alkylcarbonyl, haloalkylcarbonyl, alkyl-S(O)n or halo alkyl-S(O)n; X = N or CR14; R14 = H, halo, CN, NO2, alkyl, alkylthio or alkoxy; where alkyl = 1-4C alkyl and cycloalkyl = 3-7C cycloalkyl. 17 Cpds. (I) are claimed e.g. 1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoro methyl phenyl)-3-cyano-4- trifluoromethylsulphenyl-5- (4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) methylideneimino)pyrazole (Ia).
