The procedure envisages at least two successive phases in at least one of which conveyor means 6 transfer the containers 2 to weighing means 15, said containers remaining in this position for a predetermined time interval during which at least one product is placed in the containers. A first product is placed in each container during the first phase, a second product is placed in the container in the second phase. In at least one of these phases, a check is made to determine that the weight of the quantity of product placed in the container coincides with that desired. If it is found that the weight of the product placed in the container does not correspond with that desired, the quantity of product in the container is modified until the desired weight is obtained.
