THE TANK HAS A COVER OF GREAT THICKNESS, FOR EXAMPLE INCLUDING BETWEEN 200 AND 300 MM, CONSISTING OF SOME ELEMENTARY SYMMETRICAL PARTS OF REVOLUTION (2A, 2B, 6, 7, 8, 9, 3A, 3B) UNITED BETWEEN THEM BY WELDING FROM END TO END. THE PIECES ARE MADE OF STEEL CONTAINING 2 TO 2.50% CHROME, 0.9 TO 1.1% MOLYBDENUM AND LESS THAN 0.15% CARBON. THE JOINT WELDING OF THESE ELEMENTAL PIECES IS PERFORMED BY BEAM OF ELECTRONS IN A SINGLE PASS OVER ALL THE THICKNESS OF THE PARTS, WITHOUT METAL SUPPORT. THE INVENTION IS PARTICULARLY APPLICABLE IN THE MANUFACTURE OF A TANK FOR A NUCLEAR WATER APPRESSION REACTOR.
