COMPACT WAVELENGTH FILTER INTEGRATED TO A SINGLE-MODE OPTICAL FIBER

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA wavelength filter is integrated to asingle-mode optical fiber capable of propagating alight signal and comprising a longitudinal and opaqueouter jacket enveloping the fiber. This fiber isstripped of its jacket on a given length thereof toobtain a non-jacketed length of optical fiber. Theso produced non-jacketed fiber length is formed withfirst and second concatenated biconical tapersseparated from each other by a given distance andeach having a given profile. By appropriatelyselecting the distance separating the two tapers andthe given profile thereof, the filter will enabletransmission of a first, predetermined wavelength ofthe propagated light signal while it will stop asecond, predetermined wavelength of the signal. Amethod of integrating such a filter to a single-modeoptical fiber is also proposed.
