ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA disk-drive-compatible magnetic tapecartridge is provided with a tape guide for accuratelypositioning a magnetic tape in relation to a disk drivehead. The tape guide includes a positioning section tobe aligned with a rotation axis of a center coreassembly when the center core assembly is chucked on aturntable of the disk drive. The tape guide alsoincludes a guide section defining a tape run path acrossthe disk drive head. The guide section is formedintegrally with the section to be aligned with thecenter core assembly and so distanced from the latter asto accurately position the magnetic tape with respect tothe disk drive head. Since the tape guide has thepositioning section and guide section integrally, thedistance therebetween can be maintained preciselyconstant. Therefore, tracking by the disk drive headbecomes easier and allows high-density recording.
