"HYDROCARBON DEHYDROGENATION PROCESS USING A COMBINATIONOF ISOTHERMAL AND ADIABATIC DEHYDROGENATION STEPS"ABSTRACTDeydrogenatable C2-plus feed hydrocarbons arecatalytically dehydrogenated by the steps of: (a) passinga feed stream comprising the C2-plus feed hydrocarbon intoan isothermal dehydrogenation zone and through at leastone bed of dehydrogenation catalyst maintained atisothermal dehydrogenation conditions selected to convertat least about 50 weight percent of the feed stream and toproduce an effluent stream comprising hydrogen,unconverted C2-plus feed hydrocarbon and C2-plus producthydrocarbon; (b) admixing an oxygen-containing stream withthe isothermal dehydrogenation zone effluent stream;(c) passing the resulting mixture through a bed ofhydrogen selective oxidation catalyst maintained atoxidation conditions selected to produce an oxidation zoneeffluent stream having a reduced concentration of hydrogenand an increased temperature relative to the temperatureof the mixture; (d) passing the oxidation zone effluentstream into an adiabatic dehydrogenation zone and throughat least one bed of dehydrogenation catalyst maintained atdehydrogenation conditions selected to convert additionalunconverted C2-plus feed hydrocarbon and to produce anadiabatic dehydrogenation zone effluent stream comprisinghydrogen and C2-plus product hydrocarbon; and (e)recovering the resulting C2-plus product hydrocarbon.
