14ABSTRACTThis invention refers to a converter for heterogeneouscatalytic synthesis under pressure, consisting of an externalshell in a single piece and inside this of at least acartridge containing a catalyst arranged in one or more bedscontained in catalyst-carrying baskets, characterized by thefact that the external wall of these baskets is provided withmeans that protrude from the closed bottom and are coupled,in order to be supported, with means protruding from theinternal continuous face which extends substantially alongthe entire axial height of the converter and is the nearestto the internal wall of the baskets.For the reactions at higher pressures, the wall holding theprotruding support rings at the bottom of the baskets is acartridge wall in a single piece that extends substantiallyalong the whole shell and forms with this an airspace.For the reactions at lower pressures, the support rings ofthe basket bottoms protrude from the internal surface of theshell.
