This circuit is provided, in particular, for increasing the supply voltage of a Gunn oscillator for a short time. This is because Gunn oscillators are susceptible to oscillate at higher unwanted frequencies. For a reliable start of oscillation at low temperatures, a particular voltage reserve is required. However, a correspondingly high voltage increases the power dissipation of the Gunn element, which, at the same time, leads to a shortening of its service life. To solve these problems, the invention provides a circuit with a voltage regulator, which has connected in parallel with its input end a timing section, the output signal of which is supplied to a switching element. Between the switching element and the output of the voltage regulator, a capacitor is inserted for achieving the desired voltage increase, the voltage of which is superimposed as a voltage peak displaced by an adjustable time on the output voltage of the voltage regulator via the switching element.
