A method for controlling insect pests which belong to Homoptera which comprises applying an insect pesticidally effective amount of the compound having the formula: wherein A is a phenyl group, a 3-fluorophenyl group, a 3-chlorophenyl group and 3,5-difluorophenyl group; X is an oxygen atom or a methylene group, optionally together with an additive(s) and/or an inert carrier(s) to the said insect pests and/or the locus where the said insect pests propagate and/or cultivated plants to which the said insect pests do damage.
