Method of broadcasting a high-definition television programme, and receiver with equalizer for receiving such a programme

The method and the receiver are intended for installations for broadcasting a high-definition television programme, using a time-division multiplex of analogue picture signals and of digital sound and data signals. A first reference signal, comprising a pseudo-random sequence transmitted at least once per picture, is included in the multiplex, and, on reception, the picture signals are subjected to an adaptive equalising using the reference signal and the said sequence stored in the receiver. The receiver includes, in addition to the channels for duobinary decoding (38, 40, 42, 44) and for clock recovery, a video channel comprising an adaptive transverse filter fed with the samples of the HD-MAC signal and provided with means of adapting its coefficients through comparison between the reference sequence received at the output of the filter and the stored reference sequence.
