The invention relates to a method and device for producing a jacquard shadow velvet, in which, on a double loom, a ground warp and a pile warp are controlled via healds and a figured warp is controlled via a jacquard attachment, and in each case groups of three successive weft yarns (1, 2, 3; 4, 5, 6) and, if appropriate, additional effect yarns are inserted with varying colour by means of a weft changer, the pile warps (13) being tied in via a three-weft W-pile weave. By a colour change of the weft yarn, jacquard control of the figured warp with a coupling of the control for the colour change and a weave of the ground, figured and pile warps and weft by means of a special double-plush weave with linen weave through the ground warp and offset warp ribs through the figured warp, it becomes possible to weave strongly coloured designs in three or more colours.
