The train for laying new tracks is composed of a transport wagon (1), of a wagon (3) for laying sleepers and rails, and of a wagon (5) for handling the rails. The laying wagon (3) and the handling wagon (5) are equipped with tracked bogies (4, 6) and are articulated between themselves and with the transport wagon (1). The said three wagons (1, 3, 5) are provided with upper runways (10, 11; 18, 19; 25) which are arranged in such a way as to bring the new rails (R) towards the head of the train, where the handling wagon (5) is situated. The wagons for laying (3) and for handling (5) are additionally equipped with lower runways (20, 29, 30) which are arranged in such a way as to bring the new rails (R) towards a rail-laying device (21) in order that they can be laid on the sleepers (T1) situated underneath the laying wagon (3).
