Vice with a vice body (1) and two gripping parts (2', 2'') which move concentrically to a predetermined gripping centre, are displaceably guided in the vice body and can be driven in opposition to one another in the guide direction. Serving to drive the gripping parts (2', 2'') is a cylinder/piston arrangement (10) which can be actuated by a pressure medium and has a separate drive piston (4', 4'') for each gripping part (2', 2''). Furthermore, a gear unit connecting the gripping parts (2', 2'') in a positive manner and having at least one gear member (5) is provided. The gear member (5) is attached to the vice body (1) with an articulated member (6) which in the guide direction of the gripping parts (2', 2'') determines the position of the gear unit and thus the position of the gripping centre with regard to the vice body (1).
