Process for absorption of explosive gases in a mass transfer column

The deposition process is based on the fact that the explosive gas or steam is passed through a mass transfer column which is loaded with an absorbent and filled with an electrically conductive packing. It is essential that the packing (2) of the mass transfer column (1) is earthed and has such a tight grid spacing that an electrical charge sufficient for ignition cannot accumulate at any location in the packing.
