Aqueous cathodic electrodeposition baths containing binders and as additives for improving the surface, in particular as anti-pitting agents, from 0.1 to 3 % by weight of one or more (meth)acrylic copolymers having an amine number of 15-150 and an OH number of 15-450, together with from 0.1 to 2 % by weight of one or more polyesters containing ss-hydroxyalkyl ester groups, having an acid number of from 0 to 3 and a weight average molecular weight of from 1000 to 10000, and/or together with from 0.1 to 5 % by weight of one or more homopolymers or copolymers of one or more alkyl vinyl ethers having 1-5 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, having a weight average molecular weight of from 500 to 10000, where the percentages by weight are based on the solids content of the binders, and a process for coating electroconductive substrates.
