Aqueous electrodeposition lacquer baths which can be deposited by cathode with fluorine-containing additives, processes for their production and their use for multi-layer coatings

A description is given of cathodically depositable aqueous electrodeposition coating baths which contain conventional cathodically depositable binder systems as well as crosslinking agents, pigments, fillers, solvents and/or conventional paint additives. As anticrater agent(s) they contain from 0.05 to 5 % by weight, based on the binder system and any crosslinking agent present, of one or more copolymers having a fluorine content of from 0.1 to 5 % by weight and a weight-average molecular mass (Mw) of from 2000 to 100,000, which copolymers are essentially free from acidic or anionic groups and can be obtained by free-radical polymerisation. In cathodic deposition, electrodeposition coating baths of this kind lead to improved surfaces with good adhesion of subsequent coatings. They are suitable for the production of primers and multilayer coatings, especially in the automotive sector.
