A method of detecting and monitoring the progress of cancer, pregnancy or trophoblastic disease comprising the whole blood analysis or a whole blood fluid to detect there the presence of a peptide complex serum gonadotropin or a component of the complex peptide serum gonadotrophin, the presence of serum gonadotropin peptide complex or a component thereof being an indication of the presence of cancer, pregnancy or trophoblastic disease in a patient whose blood was sampled whole blood or liquid.
