The invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment or prevention of malignant tumors of the lungs in mammals and comprising a human interferon-alpha recombinant DNA (rhIFN-alpha), with the use of rhIFN-alpha in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment or prevention of malignant lung tumors in mammals, and a method of treating or preventing malignant lung tumors in mammals, which comprises administering by oral inhalation to a mammal afflicted with a malignant tumor of the lungs an effective amount of rhIFN-alpha using a ébuliseur or a metered dose inhaler.
