The present invention relates to pigments which are in the form of particles based on an inorganic substrate and on reaction products or an indole derivative and of a quinone derivative. It also relates to a process for their preparation, their use in the food industry, paints and in cosmetics, the cosmetic compositions containing them and their use for make-up, protection against UV radiation and for colouring hair or nails.
