The present invention provides a control apparatus for an AC motor that can stably control torque even in an electric power supply area of an AC motor.;This is achieved by providing a feedback control system for controlling the primary current of the motor, a feedback control system for controlling the excitation component of the motor primary current, and a feedback control system for controlling the torque component of the motor primary current.;The torque control by the vector control system is performed in the low speed operation area, and the torque control by the slide frequency control system is performed in the high speed operation area, so that the torque is well controlled over the entire operation area.
