The porous ceramic body, with an inlet and outlet end, has a number of generally parallel flow channels sepd. from each other by porous dividing walls. The channels open to the inlet end and those open to the outlet end alternate with each other, with hollow zones between them wholly shrouded by the porous dividing walls. At least one group of hollow zones, from the series between the channels open to the inlet or outlet, have a cross section with a width larger than the height. USE/ADVANTAGE - The porous body is used for the treatment of hot gas as a filter, or as a catalyst carrier. The body gives an even distribution of the gas flow through it, and even retention of particles, without loss of gas pressure, to separate solids from exhaust gas.
