The belt has a first lengthwise girder coupled to the vehicle and a second one, with a hydraulic motor at the free end, sliding lengthways in the first. The piping(15) for the hydraulic fluid is connected at the inlet end to the first girder(3), and via a flexible loop(25) to the motor(11). A rigid section(23) of the piping slides in its lengthwise direction in a bearing(27) fixed to the first girder, and at this point a tensioner holds the loop taut. The loop can be passed round a drum sliding in synchronism with the second girder(5) and working in guides fixed to both. A rope can be passed round the drum and fixed to the girders at opposite ends. ADVANTAGE - Counteracts alterations in piping length due to fluid pressure.
