Magnetic field measurement using adjustable flux concentrator - directing flux to Hall sensor for increasing magnetic field sensitivity and measuring with open and closed magnetic circuits
The method involves using a magnetic probe suitable for relatively weak magnetic fields. An associated flux concentrator (14a, 14b) directs the flux to the probe. Pref. the probe uses a Hall element (8) coupled via a conductor path or wire (10) to the probe cable (12), which in turn is coupled to a supply, measuring and evaluation device. The flux concentrator is adjustable relative to the probe with its actual position detected via a separate sensor (17) coupled to the evaluation circuit. In order to determine the source of the magnetic field, two measurements are made at the same position, one with an open and another with a partially closed magnetic circuit. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for position measurement or determination of residual magnetism measurement in steel parts. Suited to small and weak fields as well as large fields.
