In order, in processes for the separation of uranium isotopes which operate by adiabatic cooling of UF6 and subsequent dissociation of the desired isotopes, to reduce the electricity loss or yield-reducing loss processes downstream of the irradiation region, the product, prior to atomization in the gas phase, immediately downstream of the irradiation region in a first vacuum chamber (2) is deposited on thin-walled metal sheets (5). In a second, adjacent vacuum chamber (7), the deposited products are reconverted into gaseous UF6 by fluorination and, prior to renewed product deposition, the deposition surfaces (5) are treated with a flushing gas in a third vacuum chamber (8).
