In a quantity control valve for the supply flow, fed to an intermittently working consumer, of a hydraulic pressure medium, a control piston may be set according to the equilibrium condition between the pressure difference of a measuring throttle connected in the supply flow, on the one hand, and a control spring, on the other. In order to be able to reduce the supply flow in the case of an idle consumer, the spring tension of the control spring may be amplified as a function of the working pressure which is set up downstream of the measuring throttle.
