A protective container for accommodating a marine seismic hydrophone situated on the sea bed is specified. The container is formed from two perforated sheet-metal parts in the shape of half shells, and the hydrophone (9) is mounted axially in it, preferably by the use of retaining loops (11-13). The effect of the invention is to improve the sensitivity of the hydrophone when used on the sea bed with reference to the noise response (performance) of the hydrophone when in a flow. IMAGE
