Automatic testing for cracks in ceramic and metal products - involves applying mechanical energy via inputs and measuring structural changes acoustically via sound in air and=or solids
The testing method involves subjecting the products either once or repeatedly to a natural mechanical load of suitable dimensions. Structural variations or disturbances are detected. A dynamic vibration stimulation causes a structural change which is measured as an acoustic change. Mechanical energy is fed into the product as impacts and is measured acoustically using measurement of sound in air and/or solids.
