A detector has a housing (1.1) with wts. (4.1) which move in or between chambers (2.1) under inertial forces when the forces exceed spring forces. When the inertial force has finished the corresp. number, direction and sequence different pulses can be determined from the positions of the wts. in the chambers. By using pulse switches, time counters and pulse counters the results can be electrically, electronically and/or microelectronically processed. The results are displayed using optical indicators and time analysis performed directly. USE/ADVANTAGE - Also for triggering warning lights or airbag. Can be used to record accident data until vehicle is scrapped, enabling one to determine at any time whether vehicle has been involved in accidents, or evaluate circumstances of accident.
