The holder for the end of a rod has a rigid casing (1) on the inside of which is at least one rubbery-elastic sleeve-shaped container (3) which can be filled from outside. The container extends along the periphery of the casing's interior and is filled with a liquid or gas. The sleeve extends the full height of the rigid casing's interior. A non-return filler-valve (15) is on the outside of the casing, for connecting to a gas-cartridge, or air-pump. ADVANTAGE - The holder grips the bottom end of the sun-shade pole, washing-line post or Christmas tree trunk and allows it some play.
