The electric motor car without its power trailer has an autonomous range in the town traffic up to 100km. The electric motors connected to the vehicle's battery propel the motor vehicle's wheels. The battery can be recharged during stops from sockets in the parking places (usually during the night). Analogous to a Diesel-electric engine, the i.c. engine powers the generator and its current, via the battery, drives the motors. In the coupled condition the i.c. engine is controlled by the driver from the passenger space. It can also be operated by an automatic charging regulator to control the recharging of the vehicle's battery and the additional battery which are interchangeable. The power trailer is equipped with a high speed coupling system which allows a quick coupling of the trailer's power when the hybrid vehicle needs to increase its speed over a certain limit and with an automatic trailer steering assembly which facilitates the reverse running. The reserve wheel, the tools and an additional luggage space are also on the power trailer so that the wt. of the electric motor car is minimised and the passenger room maximised. ADVANTAGE - Combines advantages of clear i.c. engine vehicle with advantages of electric drive.
