Controlling braking light(s) of motor vehicle - improving visibility by flashing via control circuit if braking exceeds set level

The vehicle brake lights are operated with conventional controls. An inertial sensor (3) connects the brake light operation to a flasher unit (8) to operate both brake lights intermittently. This provides a safer brake indication and enables following traffic to identify strong braking. A holding relay maintains the flashing operation even with the brake control released. The flashing operation is lifted by a second initial switch, or a throttle monitor, when the vehicle is moved again. A dashboard indicator shows the flashing operation to the driver. ADVANTAGE - Improved safety; easily seen in poor visibility condition; low cost fitting.
