Electromechanical drive for door - has clutch-driven gearing with programmed hold in open position and stored energy return drive

The electric motor drives the gearing for the door opening via a clutch (7) and transmission. The clutch requires a preset torque to engage. The open position is held by a reduced motor torque and the closing drive is via a stored energy element (8). The motor can operate as a retarder during the closing drive. The open and closed positions are controlled by position sensors and the movement is damped. A data processing unit controls the operation using a stored program. If the drive fails then the door can be operated manually, against return (spring) drive. ADVANTAGE - Compact drive system can be retrofitted to existing doors, safe operation.
