The contactless sealing arrangement between a rotating shaft subject to an aggressive fluid and a stationary housing, with a liq. barrier medium contg. seal between shaft and housing, has a wall opening before the shaft journal (24) with a bore section (44) greater than the shaft dia., forming a narrow annular gap (61). A radial feed channel (47) for the circulating barrier medium terminates in the bore section. The annular gas (61) is narrower from the feed channel entry (48) towards the shaft journal. The bore section (44) has an internal annular groove (51,52) on each side of the feed channel entry (48), each connected by a radial hole (53,54) to a return channel. The barrier medium passes in an open circuit through the seal. USE/ADVANTAGE - Contactless shaft seal for chemical or electro-chemical processes, eliminates the replacement of contacting sealing elements and prolongs plant service duration.
