Compsns. giving mouldings with reduced flash comprise (A) 99.8-79 wt.% polyarylene sulphide; (B) 0.1-15 wt.% nitroarylketo cpds.; (C) 0.1-15 wt.% bis- and/or poly-maleimides; and (D) 0-300 wt.% based on wt. (A)+(B)+(C) fillers or reinforcement. (A) is e.g. polyphenylene sulphide (PPS). (B) is e.g. o-, m- or p-nitro-benzaldehyde or -acetophenone or 3,3'-dinitrobenzophenone. (C) is a maleic anhydride/diamine prod. with the amine being e.g. m- or p-phenylenediamine, 4,4'-diamino-diphenyl-ether or -sulphide or an aniline/terephthalic dialdehyde condensate, with (C) being prepd. e.g. as per GB1137592. A commercially available (C) is Mitsubishi Petrochem's MP-2000X (RTM: maleimide made using toluidine/terephthalic dialdehyde condensate as amine component). USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsns. show good flow in injection moulding etc. and give mouldings having improved mech. properties (e.g. impact strength) in addn. to reduced fla
