The circuit initiates the self testing of the laser system, and switches off a faulty component when failure is detected. The system includes a laser generator, with a power meter, power supply, and power controller. Semiconductor devices are provided for quick closing of the shutter or cut-off of the power supply, w.r.t. the monitored laser power. The cut-off operation may be carried out when the minimum switch-off time of the system is no longer maintained. A comparator circuit compares the actual and desired values of the control circuit and the result is used to trigger the safety circuit. ADVANTAGE - Prevents harm to patient. Continuous self-testing of reliable operation.
