A device for loading a wheelchair into a railway carriage has a U-shaped frame (2) which is supported on wheels. A platform (5) of adjustable height is mounted on a scissors-type linkage (4) which is mounted on the frame (2) between the legs (3) of the U-shape. The platform (5) can be rotated about a vertical axis relative to the frame (2). A hinged ramp (7) at one end of the platform (5) can be swung downwards to allow the wheelchair to be wheeled on to the platform (5). A second ramp (6) enables the wheelchair to be wheeled off the platform and onto the floor of the carriage. USE/ADVANTAGE - Loading a wheelchair into a railway carriage. The device can be adjusted to suit the height of the carriage floor.
