The short-circuit indicator has an indicator unit at earth potential which shows the time since the short circuit occurred. A signalling unit contactlessly scans the indicator unit with a light beam. The indicator consists of a magnetic circuit, a clock mechanism with springs and an indicator plate mounted as a unit inside a housing. The unit is mounted on the conductor whose current is to be monitored. The clock mechanism, indicator plate and housing are made of non-magnetic material. USE/ADVANTAGE - For cable or overhead transmission line. Solves problem of resetting display and transferring indication signal from device placed on h.v. line.
