In mfg. decorated ceramic bodies, with a glazing at least on the patterned surface, an initial glaze is applied to the unfired ceramic body. A patterned glazing is applied to the initial glaze by a glass fibre non-woven. The body is then fired. The initial glazing is pref. applied thinly, and the glass fibre non-woven is applied to it under pressure. The unfired ceramic body is produced with at least one embedded glass fibre layer, for stability, in a multi-layered body, with a narrow thickness. The mfg. operation is continuous or at intervals. The pattern is printed to the glass fibre non-woven. USE/ADVANTAGE - The technique is for the production of patterned tiles for flooring, bathrooms and the like. The operation gives a multi-coloured patterning in a cost-effective action, using little space.
