The hooded cuff (1) encloses a number of cable splices (12), and has a base (3) fitted with a sealed hood (2) mounted on a base (3). At least one cable insertion point (6,7) is provided at the base at angle (37) away from a longitudinal axis (38). Pref. the base has a number of cable insertion points extending in the same angular direction on either side of the axis. The angle of the cable insertion points to the axis is pref. 45 degrees. ADVANTAGE - Cables can be inserted into cuff from side for compact and easy mounting.
