The appts. has a calling-tone blocking circuit (RSP) characterised by a tone detector (RD) connected to a relay (SR). The relay contact (Sp1) shorts out a blocking circuit (SP) between a subscriber line (AL) and, e.g., telephone and facsimile appts. (FeAp,Fax). When an incoming call is received the controller blocks further propagation of the calling signals until the type of incoming message (whether for the telephone set or other appts.) is recognised. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. in speech, facsimile and text reception, Improved appts. with automatic switching even when user is present. No particular combination or arrangement of end equipment, or no auxiliary equipment required.
