Open channels, inspection and junction chambers are partially or completely covered to form closed cylindrical channels. The covers either have closable openings or removable fixings. USE/ADVANTAGE - For open-channel drains and open-channel portions of inspection chambers and the like. Increased flow capacity avoids re-construction or replacement of overloaded or worn-out systems. Avoids turbulence and increased flow resistance, esp. with overloaded open channels and at changes of more than 45 deg. in flow direction. Top openings permit aeration, venting, e.g. of oxygen, and prevent build up of hydrogen sulphide gas. Top openings or removable covers permit inspection, cleaning, washing and repair of leaks. Side openings permit dewatering of chambers and re-entrainment of waste water back into channel.
