A new gas-fired atmospheric-burner baking oven has, as well as the atmospheric burner (4), at least one ceramic gas burner (7). The ceramic burner (7, 7a) is pref. located in the burner chamber (3) and/or in the roof area (9) of the baking chamber (2), and is in the path (10) of the exhaust gas from the atmospheric burner (4). The atmospheric burner is designed to provide about 70%, and the ceramic burner 30%, of the total heat requirement. The maximum loading of each burner in relation to the overall oven output corresponds to the capacity of the burner in question. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in ovens having tubular atmospheric gas burners. An oven is provided which has a reduced pollutant content in its exhaust gas, while at the same time maintaining optimal operational flexibility.
