The measurement comprises arranging a laser beam source (2) in a holder (1), a laser beam focussing head (4) in a holder (3), a measuring unit (5) and a diaphragm holder (6) axially one behind the other on a common defined axis on a baseplate (7). The holder (1) or holder (3) may be moved parallel to each other perpendicular to the common axis and the measuring unit (5) may be moved along the axis to find the focal point of the beam when it emits visible light. To find the focal point of the invisible portion of the light, calculations are made using the refraction laws. USE/ADVANTAGE - The focal point may be determined rapidly to minimise downtime.
