The dental technician uses a model of a patient's teeth and jaw to produce a crown for a defective tooth. The model is mounted on a base made of plaster of Paris and the model of the crown is precisely located in its required position by a pin (1). The pin has a cylindrical portion (1a) which fits in a bush (5) in the plaster of Paris base. The upper part (1b) is tapered and fits in a tapered hole in the model of the crown. USE/ADVANTAGE - Production of crowns for defective teeth. The taper of the pin ensures a firm fit of the crown in the base.
