New cationic quat. ammonium chloride surfactants - used as brighteners, conditioners and disinfectants, e.g. for textiles

Cationic surfactants of formulae (I)-(IV) are claimed. In (I)-(IV), R1 = 7-21C hydrocarbyl (HC) residue; R2 = 1-22C HC residue; R3 = 1-3C HC residue and X = H or Me. Pref. the hydrocarbyl residues are derived from tall oil, coconut oil, palm oil and/or hardened fish fatty acids. Pref. (I) is (3-acylamino-propyl) -alkyloxycarbonylmethyl-dimethyl ammonium chloride, and (II) is (2-acyloxy-alkyl-)-alkyloxy- carbonyl-methyl-dimethyl ammonium chloride in which R1 comprises 0-30%, 11-17C; 0-20% 17''C; 0-10% 17'''C and 0-10% 19-21C, and R2 comprises 0-7% 8C; 0-7% 12C; 0-7% 14C; 0-20% 16C, 0-95% 18C; 0-7% 20C and 0-7% 22C. Pref. (III) is bis-(2-acyloxy-alkyl-) alkyloxycarbonyl-methyl-methyl ammonium chloride in which R1 comprises 0-30% 11-17C; 0-80% 17'C; 0-20% 17''C, 0-10% 17'''C, and 0-10% 19-21C. Pref. (IV) is tris-(2-alkyloxy-ethyl) -alkyloxycarbonyl-methyl ammonium chloride in which R1 comprises 0-10% 7C; 0-10% 9C; 0-60% 11C; 0-25% 13C; 0-30% 15C; 0-25% 17C;0-5% 19C and 0-5% 21C and R2 is derived from an R3-hydrocarbyl residue. USE/ADVANTAGE - As brightening agents (e.g. for textiles), conditioners and disinfectants. They do not rise to toxic intermediates or end prods. in clarifying plants.
