The circuit has a pair of input shift registers (1,2) coupled to the inputs of a tetrade circuit (4). The register outputs are cross coupled back to the inputs. The output of the processor which is switched to perform either addition or subtraction, is received by a register generating a result in 5211 code. The processor operates with signals from a control circuit that allows continuous operation in addition or subtraction modes. A fade-in circuit is used to blend in the contents of the result shift register into one of the input registers (1).
