This is an arrangement for melting solids, as binding agents for mouldings, in their own molten mass. It has a melting vessel of elongated vertical form. The vessel has two separate sections, one for melting and the other for the clarifying and transport of the melt, and the tops of these are connected to at least one pipeline, in which there is a pump. The two separate sections (11,12) are adjacent, and each is formed as a vertical pipe-bundle (13,14). Variants claimed include a distribution device above the melting section, and, below this section, a sedimentation section and discharging arrangements. In the example shown, the melting vessel (10) has a large section (11) for melting the solid material and a smaller one (12) for clarifying the melt produced and for further heating to the necessary temp. for further processing. The pipe bundles (13,14) are flushed externally by a heat-carrying medium. This can be a thermal oil or superheated steam, and it enters at the connection (18), flows through both sections of the vessel in counterflow to the transport direction of the binder to be melted, or already melted, within the pipe bundle. Parts shown include: discharge arrangement (15) and sedimentation section (27); distribution device (17); delivery pipes (24) from pump (20); pump housing (29); entry pipe (23) for solids. USE/ADVANTAGE - An earlier arrangement for the same purpose has small heating surfaces in comparison to melting volume and thus limited melting performance; it requires considerable energy for pumping, and has sedimentation difficulties. These drawbacks are avoided in the present arrangement.
