Formation of laminated components involves fixing a lower tool half forming part of an injection tool to one press platen and the upper injection tool half can be moved in and out of the daylight between the fixed lower half and an upper press tool half attached to the upper platen. A deep draw moulding tool for mfg. a facing layer is created between the upper press tool half and then inserted upper injection tool half. The facing layer is deep drawn to final size in the upper press tool half, while simultaneously a base preform is injected into the cavity between the closed halves of the injection tool. After removal of the upper injection tool half the press tool is completely closed onto the preform which spreads underneath the deep drawn facing layer to form the final laminated prod.
