The system determines the maximum permissible speed with which rakes of rail trucks are pushed over a shunting hump. The times required for release and delivery into the sidings are either computed, or previously recorded in a calibrating operation, after which they are extracted from storage units as required. From the separation points between the rakes a minimum distance from the foremost detachment point is determined. From the times required for release and delivery to the relevant sidings the minimum times for these operations are also determined. The speed is computed from the quotients of the distance between its separation point and that of the preceding rake and of the minimum travel time difference between its delivery time and the release time of the preceding rake. USE/ADVANTAGE - Speed control during hump shunting of railway wagons determines speed without need for subsequent re-checking.
